Same Day AC Repair in Sarasota, Nights and Weekends Included

An AC breakdown on a July evening in Sarasota isn’t a comfort issue for everyone. For a newborn, an elderly parent, someone with a heart or breathing condition, or a dog left at home, a house that climbs past 90 degrees is a real risk. That’s who our emergency line is for, and we treat those calls first.

Call us straight away if any of these are happening:

What to Do While You Wait

A few minutes now can save a bigger repair later and keep the house cooler until we arrive.

Checking thermostat
Start with the thermostat. Make sure it's set to cool and the screen is on.
01

Turn the system off if you see ice, water or smell burning

Set the thermostat to off. Running a frozen or leaking system makes the damage worse, and a struggling compressor can overheat.

02

Check the breaker once

If the AC breaker has tripped, reset it one time. If it trips again, leave it off. A breaker that keeps tripping is protecting you from an electrical fault.

03

Look at the filter

A filter packed with dust can freeze the coil on its own. If it’s gray and solid, take it out. Running without one for a few hours won’t hurt anything.

04

Check the drain pan and float switch

If the air handler sits in a closet or the garage, look for a pan full of water. A full pan means a blocked drain line, and the float switch has shut the system down to protect your ceiling.

05

Keep the heat out

Close blinds on the west side, run ceiling fans, and move everyone to the coolest room on the ground floor. Skip the oven and dryer until we’re done.

Please don’t spray the outdoor unit with a hose while it’s running to “help it cool”. It doesn’t fix the fault, and water on live electrical parts is dangerous.

The Faults We Fix on Emergency Calls

Most after hours breakdowns come from the same handful of parts, which is why we stock them on every van.

Capacitors and contactors

The most common reason a system stops on a hot afternoon. Usually fixed in under an hour.

Blocked drain lines

Algae in the condensate line backs water up and trips the float switch. We clear and flush it on the spot.

Frozen evaporator coils

We thaw the coil safely and find the cause, whether it’s airflow, a blower motor or low refrigerant.

Storm and surge damage

Lightning takes out control boards, fuses and capacitors. We test each one instead of guessing.

Failed fan motors

Indoor blower or outdoor fan. A dead fan motor can take a compressor with it if the system keeps running.

Heat pump faults

Stuck reversing valves and failed defrost controls. See our heat pump repair in Sarasota page for more.

If the compressor has failed or the coil is leaking badly on an older system, we’ll make it safe, explain the options and price out AC replacement in Sarasota so you’re not deciding at midnight under pressure.

When an Emergency Call Isn't Your Cheapest Option

After hours visits cost more than a weekday call, and we’d rather you knew that before we roll a truck. If it’s 10pm, the house is 79 degrees and everyone at home is healthy, a first thing tomorrow appointment at the normal rate may be the smarter move. We’ll give you both prices on the phone and let you choose.

The best way to avoid emergency calls is to catch weak parts early. Two AC tune-ups a year in Sarasota find most failing capacitors, clogged drain lines and worn contactors before they leave you hot on a Saturday night.

Emergency Response Areas

We run emergency calls across Sarasota and into Manatee County, including Lakewood Ranch, Siesta Key, Palmer Ranch, Bradenton and Palmetto. Island calls on Longboat Key and Siesta Key can take a little longer when the bridges back up, and we’ll factor that into the window we give you.

Emergency AC Repair Questions

Yes. Calls outside business hours go to the technician on call, not an answering service. If they’re on another job, they’ll call you back within minutes.

Yes, after hours visits carry a higher call out charge than a weekday appointment. We tell you the difference on the phone before anyone is sent, so you can choose between tonight and first thing tomorrow.

Yes. Switch it off at the thermostat so it stops producing more water, then check the drain pan under the air handler. A blocked condensate line is the usual cause and it’s a quick fix once we’re there.

Set the thermostat to off. Switch off the AC breaker in your panel and the disconnect by the outdoor unit, wait five minutes, then switch them back on and set the thermostat to cool. If the system trips again or still won’t cool, leave it off and contact us. Repeated resets can damage the compressor.

Once power is back, wait a few minutes before turning the AC on so the voltage settles. If the system won’t start, check the breaker and the outdoor disconnect. If the outdoor unit was underwater or knocked off its pad, don’t switch it on at all. Call us to inspect it first.

A buzzing outdoor unit with a still fan usually means a failed capacitor or a stuck contactor. Turn the system off so the compressor doesn’t overheat, and call us. It’s one of the most common emergency fixes we do.
